For several years, the National Buffalo Museum has been the grateful beneficiary of the North Dakota Pottery Collectors Society’s generosity. The NDPCS has provided the museum an endowment for the purchase of buffalo themed North Dakota pottery. These acquisitions, along with pieces on loan from NDPCS members, have developed into a small exhibit highlighting some of the most significant types of North Dakota pottery with a bison motif. This year we not only acquired two new pieces via the endowment, but also received two donations of unique pieces for the museum’s collection. Artist Robin Reynolds donated one of her own bison and sunflower vases, and Patricia Granten donated a modern ceramic sculpture by Sarah Snavely. These new pieces will soon be added to the existing exhibit. The Museum is especially grateful to NDPCS members Linda and Bill Bakken, for all of their efforts to coordinate loans and acquisitions, and for assisting us in developing the exhibit interpretation.
