Pasture Tours
For the first time, the National Buffalo Museum is offering guided tours of its bison pastures, allowing visitors to experience our herds up close and personal. From the safety of our vehicle, learn about bison behavior, herd dynamics, and our herd management practices, including how we keep our animals safe and healthy. We are offering two different tours daily, from May 28th to September 5th. Participants will be required to sign a waiver and to read and understand the guidelines and expectations listed below.

3pm Tour – South Herd
Meet Rosebud, our ambassador bison, Moose, our performance-tested breeding bull, and spend some time with the other young female yearlings and two year olds. Get a hands-on walking tour of the corral system and learn how we use low stress management practices to provide care to our animals.

5pm Tour – North Herd
Join us for feeding time with this cow-calf herd. The 5 cows and 1 breeding bull are given “treats,” which serve as supplemental nutrition. Learn some bison basics, as well as why this nutritional supplementation is important for the animals this time of year. Get some inside scoop on some of the animals in the herd and ask questions.
What to bring – We recommend a hat, water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a light jacket or windbreaker.
What not to bring – Do not bring items that cannot fit comfortably on your lap. Do not bring drinks other than water. Do not bring tobacco or vapor products. Do not bring tripods, selfie sticks, drones, loud electronic or other toys, devices, or games.
